In the footsteps of Divine Mercy 
Day 1. Vilnius


Welcome to Lithuania!

Arrival to Vilnius and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2. Vilnius


Breakfast in the hotel.

Walking tour around the Vilnius Old Town (UNESCO). During our spiritual journey, we will discover how faith has endured through the centuries and visit places related to the devotion to Divine Mercy and the life of Saint Faustina. We will visit the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul and the Church of St. Anne, a magnificent example of Gothic style. We will visit Vilnius Cathedral and admire its majestic Neoclassical architecture, then continue toward the courtyards of the old University of Vilnius. We will conclude with a prayer in the Gate of Dawn, home to the iconic chapel with the Virgin of Mercy.

Free time for lunch. 

In the afternoon we will visit the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy, located in the historic center and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Lithuania. The shrine occupies a former 15th-century Baroque church and was officially consecrated in 2005. It houses the first image of the Merciful Jesus, painted in 1934 according to the visions of Saint Faustina Kowalska and under the direction of Blessed Father Michael Sopocko.

Day 3. Vilnius – Trakai – Vilnius


Breakfast in the hotel.

Transfer to Trakai, the former Lithuanian capital, located about 25 km south of Vilnius. We will visit the famous Trakai Castle dating back to the 13th century, situated on a small island in the middle of an idyllic Lake Galve whose waters reflect the silhouette of its tall red-brick walls and slender towers. Around the lake rise the spruce and birch forests of Trakai National Park.

Return to Vilnius and visit to the House of St. Faustina in Antakalnis district, which is the actual place where Saint Faustina lived in Vilnius and had most of her revelations.

Day 4. Vilnius – Sokolka – Ostrowek – Warsaw


Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Poland.

Visit to the Collegiate Church of St. Anthony and the Sanctuary of the Eucharistic Miracle in Sokolka. On October 12, 2008, the priest distributing Holy Communion dropped a host from the chalice. He picked it up and placed it in a vessel near the tabernacle. After Mass, the contents of the vessel were transferred to a container in the sacristy safe. On October 19, 2008, upon opening the safe, a stain was observed on the submerged host that appeared to look like blood. After further investigations it was declared an Eucharistic Miracle.

Free time for lunch in Sokolka. 

On a way back to Warsaw we will also visit the Saint Faustina House-Museum in Ostrowek, where Helena Kowalska, the future Saint Faustina, lived and worked in 1924–25 as a housekeeper for the Lipszyc family.

Day 5. Warsaw

Panoramic tour of Warsaw. This excursion will allow you to discover and observe the contrasts for which the Polish capital is famous. The tour will begin with a walk through the Royal Baths Park. Here we will find the famous monument to Frédéric Chopin, the Palace on the Water, and the Island Theatre. We will then travel to the Old Town (UNESCO) and walk through its medieval streets. We will continue on to the New Town and will also have the opportunity to visit places connected with the Holocaust: the Umschlagplatz and the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes.

Free time for lunch during visit.

We will also have the opportunity to visit the Sanctuary of Saint Faustina on Zytnia Street, where Helena Kowalska, later Saint Faustina, began her postulancy and took her first steps in religious life within the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy.

Day 6. Warsaw – Plock – Swinice Warckie – Glogowek – Czestochowa

Departure towards Plock, one of the oldest cities in Poland.

We will visit the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Plock, where the first revelation of the Merciful Lord Jesus to Saint Faustina Kowalska occurred. It was here, at the Convent of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, that Jesus instructed Faustina to paint the image with the inscription “Jesus, I trust in You” on February 22, 1931. We will also visit the Plock cathedral, where several tombs of Polish monarchs are located.

Lunch in a local restaurant.

We will continue on to the village of Swinicke Warckie, where we will visit the Church of Saint Casimir, which holds special significance in the history of Saint Faustina. It was the place where Helena Kowalska received the sacrament of Baptism on August 27, 1905, just one day after her birth.

Visit to the house where Saint Faustina Kowalska was born in Glogowek. Today, Saint Faustina’s family home belongs to the parish and serves as a museum. In the museum you can see items meant to reflect the atmosphere of those times and the life of the Kowalski family.

Departure to Czestochowa, known mainly for the Jasna Gora Monastery one of the most important Marian sanctuaries in Europe.

Day 7. Czestochowa – Wadowice – Krakow


Breakfast in the hotel.

Visit to the Jasna Gora Monastery, known for the image of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa, which has attracted many pilgrims from around the world since the 14th century. The Virgin was proclaimed Queen of Poland by King John II Casimir (Jan Kazimierz). During the visit we will see the Basilica of Jasna Gora, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary with the miraculous painting, the Treasury and the Armory.

Departure for Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope Saint John Paul II.

Free time for lunch. 

Visit to the Basilica of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary in Wadowice, the church where Pope John Paul II was baptized on June 20, 1920.

Visit to the John Paul II Family Home Museum in Wadowice – Karol Wojtyla, son of Emilia and Karol Wojtyla, was born on May 18, 1920, in an apartment building on Koscielna Street 7. Today, the John Paul II Family Museum is located there. The heart of the museum is the apartment rented by the future Pope’s parents since 1919, consisting of a kitchen, a bedroom and a living room. It has been furnished with period furniture and genuine family memorabilia, such as hand-made lace napkins by Emilia, her handbag and gold reliquary, tableware and family photographs.

We continue towards Krakow, the former capital of Poland.

Day 8. Krakow

Walking tour in Krakow, known as the cultural capital of Poland, which was the country’s former capital before Warsaw. The city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is also famous for its illustrious bishop, Pope John Paul II. The tour begins at the St. Florian’s Gate and continues along the medieval streets to the Main Market Square, highlighting the Cloth Hall, St. Mary’s Basilica (visit to the interior), and the Town Hall Tower. The visit also includes the historic Jagiellonian University, where John Paul II studied, and ends at Wawel Hill, with the Royal Castle, its courtyards, and Wawel Cathedral (visit to the interior), where the Pope celebrated significant moments of his life. This day offers a lesson in history and spirituality connected to the legacy of John Paul II.

In the afternoon, visit the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Krakow-Lagiewniki, blessed by John Paul II. Although it is the youngest sanctuary in Krakow, it attracts thousands of pilgrims due to the relicts of Saint Faustina kept here. We will visit the convent where Saint Faustina Kowalska lived and the basilica with the famous image of Merciful Jesus.
